Description:

Common tree that grows virtually anywhere. Ball-shaped CREAMY-WHITE flowers with a faint sweet perfume.
Very fast-growing versatile tree. Fantastic for revegetating degraded areas and providing shelter for other young native plants.

Important habitat tree.

Soil/Conditions: Adaptable, prefers moist

Acacia melanoxylon (Blackwood):

The wood of Blackwood, being very hard and close-grained, was used in Victoria for spear-throwers and shields; the bark was infused in water to bathe rheumatic joints, and the inner bark was used to make string.
