Fast-growing small tree; prune for a bushy shrub.

Flowers Jan-Jun producing small edible berries May to July.

Doesn’t like dry conditions or frost but can recover from drought

if cut back hard. Every part of the plant was used by indigenous people, for medicine, tools and textiles. Important host plant for several butterfly species including the Jezebel Nymph, White Nymph, Speckled Line-Blue, Yellow Admiral.
