Native Plants
| Coolum Community Native Nursery grows plants native to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Set near the base of picturesque Mt. Coolum, our non-profit nursery specialises in local native plants including the salt tolerant species that are iconic to the Sunshine Coast.
Local native plants have evolved over millennia to become ideally suited to our windy, sandy and salty conditions. Local salt tolerant plants are ideal for this area as they generally require less water, fertiliser and maintenance than exotic plants, or plants from other plants of Australia. In addition they provide valuable food and habitat for local wildlife while maintaining the unique character of the Sunshine Coast. We provide complimentary expert advice on how to take care of your new plants, what to plant where, and pitfalls to avoid. Give us a phone call, an email, or drop in with any questions you have regarding native plants. Our friendly staff are here to help!
CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS“At all times the staff were friendly and helpful and their knowledge of local flora immensely useful when the time came to choose plants for our new garden. The garden is full of plants brought from the nursery, all thriving thanks to their good start in life. Thank you Coolum Community Native Nursery for helping us to achieve our dream.” (Rosa Sorensen 10.3.2012) “I have a very soft spot for this coastal nursery. My discovery of Coolum (Nursery) has been eye-opening. Coolum’s great selection of grasses has helped me hugely. The volunteers have always been a delight to deal with. The signage for groundcovers, understorey etc really help”. (Robert Rooks 8.3.2012) |
